Classroom Seating Layouts

So far, there are seating layout charts for the following rooms. [Technical note: These charts contain no graphics or picture environments. Everything is done with the framebox command.]

Krieger 205

This room has 165 seats, including 9 left-handed seats. With alternate seating, there is space for 86 people, provided at least 5 of them are left-handed.

This chart is available in both DVI format and PDF format. The LaTeX source file is also available, in case you wish to view it or download and edit it. (The dot has been removed from the filename in order not to confuse Netscape.)

Mergenthaler 111 (Auditorium)

This room has 132 seats, all of them right-handed. There are also tables at the back with movable seats for 4 more people. With alternate seating, there is space for 70 people. Currently (Nov. '99), there is one broken writing table.

This chart is available in both DVI format and PDF format. It is intended for printing on letter-size paper in landscape mode, which may or may not happen automatically. The LaTeX source file is also available, in case you wish to view it or download and edit it. (The dot has been removed from the filename in order not to confuse Netscape.)

Remsen 1

This room has 350 seats, including 30 left-handed seats. With alternate seating, there is space for 188 people, but only if 26 of them are left-handed. Currently (Nov. 99), there are three broken tables.

This chart is available in both DVI format and PDF format. It is intended for printing on letter-size paper in landscape mode, which may or may not happen automatically. The LaTeX source file is also available, in case you wish to view it or download and edit it; however, this chart fills most of the page and leaves little space for additional comments. (The dot has been removed from the filename in order not to confuse Netscape.)

Remsen 101

This room has 192 seats, all of them right-handed. With alternate seating, there is space for 102 people, or 101 allowing for the tables that are currently broken.

This chart is available in both DVI format and PDF format. This chart is intended for printing on letter-size paper in landscape mode, which may or may not happen automatically. The LaTeX source file is also available, in case you wish to download it and edit it yourself. (The dot has been removed from the filename in order not to confuse Netscape.)

Generic Section Scoresheet

This LaTeX document is intended to be copied and edited to produce printed section scoresheets for courses, with the header and names filled in, but otherwise blank. Recording the scores in the LaTeX file itself is not recommended, and it is certainly no substitute for a spreadsheet.

To see what it looks like, see the sample. It allows for 30 names, which can be quite long, and still leave room for notes in the right margin. It allows for 12 homework assignments and two exams, plus a final exam. To use it, download the LaTeX source file, copy and/or rename it, and edit to taste. You can see where the names go. For further details, read the comments at the beginning of the source file. NOTE: It is important to keep the same number of & signs in each row of the table for it to print properly; the simplest way to add a new row is to copy an existing row and edit the name. After LaTeX processing, the file should be printed in landscape mode, which may or may not happen automatically.
