Dear Math Club leaders or mathematics teachers,

The Johns Hopkins Math Club cordially invites your school to participate in the 2nd Annual Johns Hopkins University Math Tournament. This year’s tournament will be held on Saturday, April 1 and is held on the Johns Hopkins University Homewood campus in Baltimore. The Johns Hopkins Math Tournament is for high school students throughout Maryland and beyond. It is completely student-run by volunteers who write the questions, administer the tournament, grade the tests, and present the results. Along with this letter, you will find:

Schedule of Events
Descriptions of tests offered
An official registration form, due by Friday March 10, 2000 WITHOUT EXCEPTION
Directions to the Homewood campus
Where to park when you arrive
A map of the campus

This year, Chirag Patel is the tournament director. If you have any questions, you can contact him by e-mail at chirag@jhu.edu or by phone (410) 516-2433. You can also find out more information at our tournament page at: http://www.math.jhu.edu/~mathclub/2000tourney.html
The fee for this year’s tournament will be $5 per student. This fee will cover copying expenses, trophies, ribbons, certificates, and lunch. The lunch will consist of 2 slices of pizza, one can of soda, and one snack (e.g. a Little Debbie brand product). We suggest that students bring frisbees, soccer balls, footballs, etc to pass their time during lunch and before the awards. Our grassy quadrangles provide the best areas for recreational sports!
If your school plans to attend, the registration form and tournament fees must be sent to us by no later than Friday March 10, 2000. There will be no exceptions for late registrants! If you do not send the registration form and dues by this date, we will assume that you are not interested in competing. We appreciate your time and interest and hope that we can provide the best tournament possible for you and your students!

Sincerely,
Chirag Patel
