Carothers, Real Analysis, Cambridge University Press, 2000

Prerequisite:

Grading:

weekly homework assignments (50%), midterm exam (20%), final exam (30%)

Homework:

Since the purpose of the homework is to gain better understanding of the material, you may discuss the homework with other students, but you must write up the homework solutions on your own. Copying homework from another student or from any other source is a violation of academic integrity. Homework will be assigned each week and will be due the following Monday in class. No late homework will be accepted for any reason, including excused absence. Missing or late homework will be given a grade of 0; to allow for one absence or other circumstances, the lowest homework grade will be dropped.

Exam dates:

Midterm: Monday, March 13, 1:30-2:45.

Final exam: Thursday, May 11, 9:00-12:00.

Course policy:

You are expected to attend and actively participate in lecture and section meetings. Check your email regularly; announcements related to the course will be sent to your JHU email address. Finally, please silence cell phones and refrain from text messaging or using electronic devices during class.

How to get the most out of the class:

Complete the reading before the lecture. Questions are encouraged during class; if there is something you don't understand or are unsure of, speak up! Begin the homework before the section, so you can get help with any problems you're having trouble with. I also encourage you to come to office hours for help anytime you have questions.
