Introduction

This guide is primarily intended for entering freshman students in introductory mathematics courses, which are generally those numbered 110.x, where x < 400. These include Introduction to Calculus, Calculus I, II and III, Linear Algebra, and Differential Equations with Applications. The intent of the guide is to provide students with an overview of how these courses are structured and advice on how to navigate these courses successfully. The guide, with any appendices, contains information and viewpoints which the Department of Mathematics considers important for students to have in order to study mathematics well at Hopkins. Our plan is to update this guide every year. If you have any suggestions for additions or changes, please pass them along to the Department.
