You may find the MIT OpenCourseWare Math 18.100A, Fall 2020, Prof. Casey Rodriguez useful, particularly if you miss a class. You can see the lectures on YouTube.

Grading Policy: homework (30%), Quiz (10%), midterm exam (30%) and a final (30%). No make-ups on homework or exams. See General Information and Syllabus for details and information on getting help.

Homework will be assigned on each Wednesday and due on the next Wednesday at the beginning of class. No late homework will be accepted. The two lowest scores out of the 12 assignments will be dropped. Any portion of those scores above 60% will count as extra credit.
Quizzes will be carried out online at the beginning of Friday's class. Each quiz will take exactly 5 minutes and has 5 true-or-false problems. The two lowest scores out of the 12 assignments will be dropped. Thus, there will be no make-up quizzes.
Exams are closed-book, closed-notes. Midterm: in class on Wednesday, Oct. 8 . Final: TBD. No make-up exams.

Please submit homework in the following format:

Hand-written only. (You may use LLMs or group discussions, but write your own solution.)
Write clear, organized proofs.
Submit to Gradescope. If written on paper, please scan and upload to Gradescope

Announcements:

The Directed Reading Program is an effort, run by graduate students in our department, designed to allow undergraduate students to experience mathematics beyond the standard curriculum and to expose them to what doing and learning mathematics might feel like. To that end, the program pairs undergraduate students with graduate student mentors for one-on-one weekly meetings. The program culminates in short presentations given by the undergraduates at an end-of-semester party open to all. Moreover, students can earn 1 mathematics credit by successfully completing the program. Schedule:
